Miramont Celebrates Four Years Using Character First!

Miramont Lifestyle Fitness celebrated four years of using Character First! in the workplace at a recent employee event in June. Miramont is one of Fort Collins' "Businesses of Character," a designation earned by companies that have integrated an emphasis on high character standards in every level of the workplace culture. Character is emphasized in hiring decisions, performance evaluations, workplace policies, regular employee meetings and trainings.

Characdership Conference Emphasizes Character and Leadership for Youth

The Characdership Conference, developed by Leadership Fort Collins, a program of the Fort Collins Area Chamber of Commerce, was held May 8, 2008, for youth. The purpose of the Characdership program is to teach youth about the importance of character in leadership. On the left is a youth project emphasizing the character quality of 'respect."




Family Seminar Scheduled for Fall

Character Fort Collins will offer the Character First! Family Seminar on the morning of Saturday, October 25, 2008, at First Presbyterian Church. Child care will be provided. More Details

International Association of Character Cities Director Visits Fort Collins

Steven Menzel, Director of International Association of Character Cities, visited Fort Collins on Thursday, June 5, 2008. He accompanied Character Fort Collins board members and staff at the Larimer County Detention Center to attend an inmate Character First! training. Later that evening, he attended an informal reception, hosted by board member Bonnie Titley.

"The association of Character Fort Collins with the International Association of Character Cities has been highly beneficial to the greater Fort Collins area. Beginning with our Mayor's participation in the year 2000 Building Cities of Character Conference our involvement has steadily grown," said Bob Powell, former Executive Director of Character Fort Collins, in a testimony about the value of IACC to the local character initiative's original start up efforts.
